The Renaissance period, which roughly spanned the 14th to 17th century, was a time of great cultural movement in art, literature, philosophy, science and religion. When I think of these times I think of the great painters such as Leonard da Vinci, Botticelli and Michelangelo. Then, there’s the greatest writer of them all, William Shakespeare.
What about Renaissance women? Of course there’s Elizabeth I who ruled England very successfully without a husband. Then, there’s Queen Isabella of Spain who persuaded her husband to fund Christopher Columbus’s journey to “The New World” in 1492. This led to the discovery of the American continents.
